Thomas D. Elder, 78, of Greensburg, passed away Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021, at Newhaven Court at Lindwood. He was born April 5, 1942, in Greensburg, a son of the late Robert S. Elder and Catherine Close Elder Wineland. Thomas was a former member of both the Latrobe and Hempfield Church of Christ. He was a God-fearing man. Thomas loved fishing, especially with his grandchildren. He was an Army veteran, having served in the Vietnam War. He worked as a school bus driver and was known by the kids as "Big Mixx". In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ken Elder, Jim Elder and Bob Elder. Surviving are his loving wife, Connie Troy Elder; daughter, Jennifer (Mike) Skovira; grandchildren, Michael, Sam, Colin, Catie and Sarah Skovira; brother, George Elder; and a number of nieces and nephews. The family would like to give special thanks to the aides at New Haven Court and the nurses at Suncrest Hospice. Family and friends will be received from 3 p.m. until the time of service at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME, 524 N. Main St., Greensburg. Visitors are asked to wear face masks and practice social distancing. The service will be available via livestream at 5 p.m. Wednesday by visiting Thomas's obituary page at www.kepplegraft.com.
