Verna Mangan

August 27, 1918 — February 17, 2011

Verna J. Mangan, 92, beloved wife and mother, went to live with her lord and savior Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011. She was born Aug. 27, 1918, in Jeannette, the daughter of Raymond and Amelia Turek Streussnig. She was part of a large Austrian family, which had 14 siblings. She was married June 19, 1937 to the late Eugene F. Mangan in a triple wedding ceremony at Sacred Heart Church . They were married 57 years and blessed with four children, Gene and his wife, Leona, of West Palm Beach, Fla., Jackie and her husband, Dick, of Penn Trafford, Joyce and her husband, John, of Jeannette, and Patrick (deceased in 1957); and grandchildren, Patrick Mangan, Kelly Smith, Lori Hurd, Ricky Vaccaro, Jill Wicker, Joshua Deblasio and Jason Deblasio (deceased in 1982). At the age of 83, she was married to Jim Free for seven years, until Jim's passing in 2009. She was predeceased by her wonderful brothers, Raymond, Eddie, Peter, Ted, Robert, Pius, Leonard and Sebastian; and her sisters, Rose, Millie and Sue. She is survived by her four best friends and sisters, whom she chatted with everyday, Grace Tickle, Gertrude Herman and Florence Dorohovich; sister-in-law, Yolanda Streussnig; her beloved great-grandchildren, Marlena, Pat Jr., Hannah and Katie Claire Mangan, Cason and Madaline Smith, Meg Schaffer, Lauren Hurd, Matthew and Michelle Vaccaro, Peyton and Paige Wicker and her great great grandchild Alexa. Verna was employed by General Tire, the Darling Shop and Kmart. She loved entertaining friends and family at her home. The cinnamon rolls and apricot-filled cookies and nut rolls she made gave so much happiness and joy to everyone who came. She loved playing cards. Friends and family may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME, 524 N. Main St. , Greensburg . Service at 10 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to CBN, 700 Club; or the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. A special thank you to all the hospice nurses and aides, Kathy, Darlene, Laura and Danielle.
