William D. Hodge, 94 years old of Greensburg, died Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at Hempfield Manor after a short stay at Westmoreland Hospital. Bill was an intelligent and caring man who was very active in his church community until his death. He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel E. Hodge and his mother, Ruth Miller Hodge as well as his beloved wife of 69 years, Dolores (Dee) Hodge and his sister, Margaret Ankney. He is survived by his four daughters, Patricia Tondreault (Norman Lowe), Diana (William) Shutt, Kathleen (James) Gongaware and Cheryl (Gerald) Thomas; his grandchildren Jennifer Lynn, Chad Gongaware (Jolene Casko), Denise (Wayne) Paisley, Oscar (Megan) Shutt, Daphne (Taruan) Matthews, Karen (John) Nichols, Sean Gongaware, Amy (Jeffrey) Cruz, Michelle (Daniel) Zervins; and great grandchildren Nathan, John, William, Benjamin Puckett, Mina Paisley, Damian & Teona Matthews, Raina Gongaware, Ella Nichols and Maxwell Cruz. He has been a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, Greensburg and his roots go back to the founding fathers of the church. He held numerous positions in the church, including Treasurer, Financial Secretary, Vice Moderator among other positions and he videoed every service and distributed DVD’s until his death. He enjoyed playing Bocce during the summer at the church and was known to be one of the best! He was an avid bowler most of his adult life and played softball for the church team for many years. He and his wife Dee took over ownership of Hodge Electric Motors in 1968 until their retirement. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, August 8th from 3 to 7pm at the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME 524 N. Main Street, Greensburg. Additional visitation will be held on Friday, August 9th from 10am until the time of service at 11am at the First Baptist Church 1228 Brinkerton Rd. Greensburg with Rev. Scott Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church.
