William G. Jameson, Sr., 91, of Greensburg, died on February 6, 2013. Born in Pittsburgh on October 15, 1921, he was the son of John H. and Margaret (Rock) Jameson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers John Jameson and James Jameson. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Janny Beck Jameson three children Priscilla (Ray) Richardson of Greensburg, William (Carole) Jameson, Jr. of San Jose, CA, and Thomas (Marcia) Jameson of Denver, CO. , three brothers, Robert Jameson, Richard (Elvira) Jameson, Charles (Jean) Jameson, three sisters, Margaret Jean Scanlon, Janet Rapp, and Marilyn (David) Ohnsman. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Margaret Richardson (Mark) Giron, Anne Richardson (Michael Vallano), Jonathan (Courtney) Jameson, Thomas Richardson, Abby Jameson (Sam) Heider, Joseph Jameson, and three great grandchildren, Brady Giron, Eli Giron, and William G. Jameson, III.
Bill served in the US Army during WWII with the 238th Engineer Combat Battalion. Having landed on Utah Beach on D-Day, he participated in every major European battle after that and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. After receiving a degree in petroleum engineering from Marietta College, Bill worked for Dominion until he retired.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from noon till 2 pm at Kepple-Graft Funeral Home 524 N. Main Street, Greensburg . A memorial service to celebrate Bill's life will immediately follow at 2:00PM. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the National D-Day Memorial , PO Box 77 Bedford, VA. 24523.
