Evelyn Shilling Mennow

Evelyn Ruth Shilling Mennow, 98, of Greensburg, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at Redstone Highlands. She was born May 3, 1918, in Youngstown, Ohio, a daughter of the late Frank W. and Eva Rena (Collins) Gill. Evelyn was Methodist by faith. She was part of the Sweet Adelines singing group and various bridge clubs. Evelyn was a member of the Port Charlotte Cultural Center. Prior to retirement, she taught first grade for the North Hills School District. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, John F. Shilling; second husband, Robert E. Mennow; sister, Mary Jane Sankey; and niece, Carolyn Sankey Pocna. Surviving are her daughters, Joanne Faber (Dennis), of Ocean Pines, Md., and Marjorie Jackson (Paul), of Irwin; son, John R. Shilling (Noel), of Carmel, Ind.; eight grandchildren, John P. and Robert G. Weber, Keith M and Mark M. Faber, Brian P. and Jeffrey R. Jackson, Andrew J. Shilling and Rebecca N. Smalley; 28 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a special niece, Barbara Sankey Gaumer; and several nieces and nephews. Honoring Evelyn's wishes, there will be no public visitation. A memorial service will held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2016, in Redstone Highlands Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Redstone Highlands Benevolent Fund, 6 Garden Center Drive, Greensburg, PA 15601.
