Joseph C. Spence, Jr., age 92, of Greensburg, PA, passed away on February 16, 2016.
He was born August 2, 1923, in Washington, PA, son of the late J. Clark Spence and Nelle Ewing Spence.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 3 brothers, James R. Spence, Ray E. Spence and Alvin Spence and his sisters-in-law Lola Spence and Betty Spence.
He is survived by his wife Wilma Schultz Spence of Brentwood, TN; a daughter, Nancy Spence of Overland Park, KS, a son, Joseph C. Spence III and his wife Sandy and two grandsons, Andrew Spence and Trent Spence, all of Brentwood, TN. In addition, he is survived by his sisters-in-law Evelyn Spence of Washington, PA, and Helen London of Dallas, TX, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Joe graduated from Trinity High School in Washington, PA, and served 3 years in the U.S Navy as an A.M.M. 1-C during World War II. Following his military service, Joe earned degrees from Waynesburg College and West Virginia University. He was employed by the former West Penn Power company for 43 years, most of which was spent at the general office in Greensburg. He was a lifetime member of the B.P.O.E. in Greensburg.
A memorial service for family and close friends will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, February 21, 2016, at the KEPPLE-GRAFT Funeral Home 524 N. Main Street, Greensburg.
Entombment will be in the St. Clair Cemetery, Greensburg, PA.
