Margaret J. "Mickey" Kennedy, 83, of Pittsburgh, passed away Friday, Feb. 19, 2016, at Charles Morris Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mickey was born in Hagans, W.Va., a daughter of the late Howard and Mary (Eliasom) Shaw, and graduated from Morgantown High School. She worked as a teacher's aide in the elementary school in Rivesville, W.Va. The family later moved to Greensburg, where Mickey pursued a career as an administrative assistant at Seton Hill University. Her two sons, John Kennedy and his wife, Ruth, and Michael Kennedy and his wife, Marybeth, were the joy of her life, along with her grandchildren, Kelsey, Zach and Ben, of Pittsburgh, and Rachel, Lauren and Hannah, of Huntington Beach, Calif. Mickey delighted in helping raise her "Pittsburgh Kennedys" and traveling to California to visit her "West Coast Kennedys." The walls of her home, which she shared with her late husband of 57 years, Darrel Kennedy, were a tribute to her grandchildren, their adventures and accomplishments. Both Mickey and Darrel were longtime fans of West Virginia University football, an interest they shared with Mike, Marybeth and Kelsey. Mickey loved her Greensburg community and was so much loved by her many friends and neighbors. She will be dearly missed as she was an integral part of the Kennedy family. The family extends its gratitude to her caregivers at the Charles Morris Nursing Home. Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME, 524 N. Main St., Greensburg. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Interment will follow in the St. Clair Cemetery, Greensburg.
